“You are the salt of the earth.” Matthew 5:13-16.
Visiting the Bonneville Salt Flats was like no other experience! Imagine driving down the interstate and seeing endless miles of white salt with the sky reflecting perfectly in the water. Who knew this place existed in the US? I sure didn’t!
Once your toes hit the water you immediately start questioning your reasoning. The water is FREEZING! This is coming from a Minnesotan, where winter never ends, ever, ever, ever. However we sucked it up and wandered off towards the mountains.
Tip #2: Come here in the beginning of Spring. The weather is warm but the Salt Flats are not completely dry. I think it was beautiful to see the reflection of the clouds underneath my feet.
Since you have made your way to the Flats, definitely drive down for another 5 minutes and check out the Raceway. This was Filipp’s favorite part. We took our cute little, tortoise looking jeep off road. The sand was crackling but still soft. Perfect for those donuts ;P
Tip #3: Rent an all wheel drive vehicle. If not, than you are just that much more adventurous than we are. Our go-to car for trips is always a Jeep. We rented a Wrangler in Hawaii and could actually make it up the mountains, unlike all the other itty bitty cars.
***We will be sharing a Video of our trip soon!***
Photography Side Tip: Do not forget your CF card! I did…. All of these photos were taken on our Powershot G7x Mark II. It is a wonderful little camera that is amazing for videos as well as landscape. I edited all of these on my phone because.. drum roll!!! The Powershot can connect directly to your phone through Wifi! So handy!
